Utah Camping Company - The Bunkhouse Experience || Salt Lake City Commercial Photographer
A few weeks ago, I had the awesome opportunity to check out Utah Camping Company and their Bunkhouse trailer. I packed up the two kids I had home and met up with my friend and his two kids for a few days up in the mountains.
Utah Camping Company is such a unique service. They are literally camping delivered. We met up with the owner at a restaurant outside of Kamas and followed him up to where our camping experience was all set up and ready to be enjoyed. When we pulled up, the trailer was completely ready to use. Outside, there were enough chairs for everyone in our group set up around a campfire. Firewood was provided, too. There was also a table and chairs right by the trailer that we used for most of our meals. Outdoor rugs were placed around the trailer too which really helped minimize how much was tracked into the trailer during our stay and made it seem more cozy. Cold drinks were also ready for us in the ice filled cooler.
Inside the Bunkhouse was amazing. We were greeted with a s'mores tray, snacks, and hot chocolate. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to use for the meals we cooked over the few days we stayed. Basic spices and cooking oils were also included which was very convenient. There were plenty of warm blankets to use and the beds were all really comfortable. We didn't end up using the shower while we were there, but everything you need for a quick camp shower was also provided.
The kids loved the bunkbeds and felt like they had their own little private corner. Almost immediately, Deacon hung up all of his "artwork" on his bunk. The individual lights throughout the trailer were really great at night so overhead lights didn't need to be turned on when kids got up for middle of the night bathroom visits. The TV was also a hit for the kids (and parents) late at night when they had a hard time settling down after fun days outside.
S'mores were a huge hit both nights. The included roasting sticks were great for the kids, but we had also brought our own bigger ones. We quickly learned that we had to put a cap to how many marshmallows the kids could each roast though. They easily went through two bags over two nights, though most didn't even get eaten. Apparently playing in the fire with marshmallows is fun for five year olds... and ten year olds.... and two year olds.....
The owners had picked our camping spot, and it was so PERFECT. We had a great place to hang the hammock, lots of fun exploration spots right around the trailer, and wide open dirt road for lots of biking. Deacon especially loved riding his bike the whole time we were there. Holland loved her balance bike too. And Rosie's bike ended up being the stationary exercise bike. Training wheels aren't great off-road it turns out. I had fun taking Jack's bike around a little too and definitely will be bringing my bike next time!
I brought small canvases and glue for the kids to collect treasures around the camp sight and make artwork with. The table inside the trailer was perfect for their craft time, and a nice break from the noon sun. I kept my kids, and it's fun to have little art projects to remember our fun trip from.
If you ask the kids, their favorite part of the trailer was definitely the window for the door lock. It ended up being their "McDonald's Drive Thru" window, and they played with it a ton while we were there. I love how creative kids can be when you take electronics away! We also loved playing baseball and the pop up can-jam that the trailer included.
Star gazing the first night while the kids watched a movie was probably my favorite part of the trip. I've always loved the peace I feel in nature, especially while star gazing. I don't take my camera out and play with it very much when I'm not working, but it was fun to take a few pictures of the night sky and play around with it for a few minutes.
When it was time to leave, we packed up all of our stuff and did a quick clean down of the trailer. We left everything there and then let the owners know we had packed up as soon as we got back into cell service so they could go pick it up.
Getting away from life for a few days was so perfect for all of us. We all enjoyed our camping stay so much that we talked about how excited we are to go again on our way home. As a novice camper, it was especially easy to go this way for camping. With included grills, indoor cooking equipment, and all the things included that I would have forgot to pack ourselves, it was such a stress free experience. I cannot wait to go out with Utah Camping Company again! Make sure to check them out on social at:
