MomTog Tips Series || Tip 1 - Let Them Work With You
I know a lot of my blog readers are fellow stay at home mamas with a side hustle business, too. I love learning from you, so I want to share some of my tips for my attempts at balancing work and home life. My first tip is to embrace the season and hire "help." And by help, I mean your little ones.
There is a lot to be learned by kids when you invite them to be involved in your business. A lot of my work at home is on my computer, and it's work my kids can't actually do. But when it's just Holland and me at home, I'll have her bring her "computer" (iPad) and come sit on my bed and "work" with me. When she's entertained with her work, I can focus better on mine.
A lot of you mamas are makers. What can your kids do to help you work? Can they cut patterns for you? Can they model for your content photos? Can they help you paint something?
The best part about this is the quality time you get to spend together while still accomplishing your work duties. I would even say that while it's great you're getting work done, this time can really end up being exactly what your kids need from you. We all feel a sense of accomplishment when we complete a task. Your kids get that feeling as well as the quality time with you they always desire. Learning how your business operates is also valuable information to your kids. How cool is it that they get to watch mom create something amazing and be paid for it?!
Now that Tim is 10, he enjoys coming to photoshoots with me. If I go up the canyon, he'll join me and go explore around close by while I'm shooting. The drives to and from my shoots are time I get with him alone in the car. It's time I value with him. He tells me lots of stories, talks about school, asks me a million questions, and holds my hand. Finding these times to intertwine work and home isn't something that's always doable, but when it is, there is so much beauty that can come from it!
