{Misty} Omaha Maternity Photographer
I'm really starting to have a great passion for maternity, newborn, and birth story shoots. I know it's because of my phase in life right now, but there is truly something so uniquely beautiful about the beginning of a new life and the story of where that little life came from! In my own life, there are four days that have defined who I am more than any other days or times in my life. My wedding day, the births of both of my children, and the day my dad died. Not surprising, these are all major life changing days. While I'm completely ok with not having pictures of the day my dad passed away (I've got enough of that ingrained in my head!), I cannot even close to describe the joy and happiness the pictures and videos of my wedding day and my boys' births bring me! I honestly cry every time I watch my boys' birth videos. Kneeling across the alter from my husband and making covenants with God and each other changed my life direction. It changed my purpose to include someone besides myself. And I'm so happy to have pictures and video of that day. But the moment my sons were born - wow. Nothing can be written to express the change and emotion that came over me in those moments. Not only did I become a momma individually to each of them, I felt the intense eternal connection we would always share.
Those feelings cannot be replicated, BUT they can be preserved by photos and video. I'm just understanding that and seeing that more and more lately I guess. Maybe part of that is attending so many weddings. I truly enjoy weddings where the WEDDING is the focus on the day. I can feel the difference! But there are many weddings that I've been to where the party seems to be what's on everyone's minds. When I take maternity shoots, newborn shoots, or enter a hospital room where a new baby is about to be born, the emotion is so REAL. You can't hide it, fake it, or wrap it in a bow and make it perfect. It's true and authentic. It's not forced. I love being a part of that in any way I can.
I really had fun shooting Misty's session. She's an amazing woman, one who I truly look up to! We serve in church together with the teenage girls, and Misty seriously is wonder woman! She does so much for everyone else, so when I was thinking of what to get her for her baby shower, I decided she needed more than some cute diapers. So I offered her a maternity session, too. I'm so glad she took me up on it! Even though it was a typical Omaha freezing day, we had fun chatting on walking around Old Market. I'm super impressed at how much walking she could do. Go Misty! I'm so excited to meet her little guy in a couple more weeks!
