Miles || Logan, Utah Child Photographer || Capturing Toddlers
Miles literally gave me a run for my money. This little guy was NOT excited about getting his two year pictures done, but through a game of tag, we were able to get a few happy smiling pictures. AND a lot of other suave stud pictures too. This kid has a serious smolder for a two year old! Breakin' hearts already. That being said, I was pretty worried at the beginning of this session. The second Miles looked at the camera, he cried. Not just sad face.... but was literally terrified of me and the camera in front of my face. It's pretty hard to take pictures without using a camera.... so we had to figure something out. The funny part is that I just did pictures of Miles a few months ago and he was totally fine! But that's the thing about kids. You never know what they're gonna do at any photo session.I think that's where having an open mind about how your session is going to go becomes so important! I'm usually confident going into any session that we'll get not just a few good shots, but many great ones! I want to make sure that you have options from your session. But sometimes kids are kids.... and it's pretty hard to get them happy! But that's when taking a look at the other faces a kid makes is worth checking out. Because smiling isn't all our kids do. Our kids cry. They are content. They are curious. They are tender. They are confused. They are excited. They are so many more things than just "look at the camera and say cheese." And all those other faces are worth capturing too. And those are sometimes a lot easier to get if we let the child take the lead during a shoot. Which is exactly what happened with Miles. Instead of trying to direct him, we just let him decide what he felt comfortable doing, and we went with it. I love what we ended up capturing once we let him explore his world. He's such a stud!
