Kaitlin + Travis Formals || Antelope Island Wedding Pictures
It's hard to believe that Kaitlin is old enough to get married! But here she is - not only old enough, but also having found a great man in Travis. Kaitlin is the daughter of a very good family friend, and the granddaughter of a woman who has been my "grandma" for as long as I can remember. My first visit to Utah when I was young was a road trip with Kaitlin's grandma, my mom, and my siblings. We drove out and stayed with Kaitlin's family. She was just a little baby and I remember how much her mom and dad completely adored her. Not much has changed since then!
I've really enjoyed getting to know both Kaitlin and Travis through doing their pictures. When she got engaged out here in Utah, her mom and grandma in Ohio immediately asked if I could do the pictures. It was really fun for their formals because they just left it up to me to choose where to go. I, of course, opted for my favorite place around here this time of year. We headed to Antelope Island for a gorgeous early spring sunset and perfect night of shooting.
I can't write about Kaitlin without writing a little more about her Grandma. Since I want this website to include more about women helping women, I want to take this opportunity to share how Sherry has blessed my life in unmeasurable ways. My early memories of Sherry include evenings to Playhouse Square in Cleveland to see the Nutcracker, drives through downtown looking at Christmas lights, eating cheerios from her Cheerio shaped tupperware when I got to sit with her during Sacrament meeting, decorating Christmas cookies, going to her brother's movie theater and getting to see the movie reel room, sleepovers, drives to Utah with our own color coded maps and calculators so we never had to ask "how much longer,".... the list just goes on.
During my teenage years, Sherry became a very vital part of my life and the lives of my family members. She worked at the private school I attended, so there were many days of sitting in Sherry's office waiting for my mom to remember she forgot to pick me up or waiting for my dad to come get me after his chemo or radiation treatments, countless cans of her Dr. Pepper, watching my sports games, staying with me and my siblings when my parents went on trips... this list goes on and on, too. Sherry also was the one to bring me home from my school's Halloween Carnival on October 27, 2000. And she's the one who walked inside my home and knew that my dad wasn't going to make it through the night. She let our family be alone that night, but then she was there for us for everything after.
Once my family moved to Utah, Sherry's support didn't stop there. She was here for my high school graduation. She was here for my wedding. She was here for blessing days and my siblings' big days, too. She was here to hold my colic baby so I could rest. And she was here after my divorce and talked to me about hers and gave me permission to feel all that I was feeling. Sherry, quite literally, is my angel here on earth. She is fiercely loyal and loves more deep and pure than anyone else I know. I am so blessed to have her in my life, and am grateful that I got to see her again when she was out here for her beautiful granddaughter to get married!
