Devyn & Fam ||Tips for Winter Family Pictures|| Eden, Utah Extended Family Photographer
I've been getting calls for winter extended family pics since the holidays are coming up and families are actually together! It's such a different conversation for this time of year. Summer is all about shooting at the perfect golden light so it's not as hot. We have lots of hours in the day to work with, and everyone is enjoying summer vacations. Winter.... it's all about "how fast can we do them so we don't all freeze." Gotta love, Utah! Here are a few of my most important tips to help your winter photo session feel not so frigid!
- Layers - Don't be afraid of multiple layers in pictures. It really works well in photos. Vests, sweaters with a collared shirt underneath, warm tights under jeans... anything to keep you toasty!
- Accessories - I personally LOVE making my pictures look different each session. Last year, my little guy was in a winter beanie for our pictures. Hats, gloves, scarves, and mittens can all add personality to your photos. Just find matching accessories that go with your outfits and it will look great!
- Hand warmers - I try to remember to bring some extras in my bag, but if you have hand warmers for everyone in your group, it seems to help give you the feeling of a little extra warmth!
I took this family's pictures at their family cabin. It was the perfect backdrop for the sunny SUMMER evening. It was apparent that everyone was having a great time being together, and that made for some pretty great pictures! I loved working with them!
