D Family || Salt Lake City, Utah Family Reunion Photogrpaher
It will always feel pretty good when past clients reach out, especially when they are fellow photographers. Sireena and her family were out visiting Utah a couple years ago, and reached out to me for family pictures with the mountain backdrops. It was literally such a perfect session that I used it for one of my "tips" posts. So when Sireena reached out and asked if I would be willing to travel a couple hours to do their extended family session, I knew it would be worth the time!
I loved this session. I headed up to Idaho to shoot this family's reunion. These guys are from ALL OVER the country, so it was a big deal that they were all able to get together. To top it off, the Great Grandparents even got to join. Since most of my extended family sessions happen during family reunions at lake houses and such, I don't do very many formal sessions. I love how it looked for this family, and the city building they chose as the backdrop was perfection. These kids were so cooperative. Sireena played "Simon Says" with them, and it was magic. I use it now during my shoots sometimes since it worked so well!
I love that we were able to get a lot of family pictures individually with the grandparents and the great grandparents. It reminds me of the importance of always taking the time to not just do formal pictures, but also making sure to take candid pictures at family events. Take videos of grandparents telling stories. Take pictures of kids sitting on their laps. They really are tender moments that deserve to be remembered. re
