Best Friends, and Why Everyone Needs One - Happy Birthday Chelsea!

Ok ladies, real talk here. There are people we pretty much need in life.  Our husbands, our kids, our mamas and dads, our sisters and brothers... AND our best friends. Best friends meaning the person who pretty much comes with all the positives of all those other people but with no strings attached. Well, that's Chelsea for me! Chelsea and I met when she shot my wedding over 11 years ago, but that's not really when we got close. We worked together as associate photographer's for Eric Richards for a few years and gradually started to hang out. We had our first boys within the first few months of each other and bonded a little over being first time moms, but then I moved away to Omaha for three years.

Chelsea and I would chat every so often over the next few years about parenthood and the fertility struggles we were both having trying to conceive our second children. I vividly remember calling Chelsea to excitedly tell her I had FINALLY got my positive pregnancy test, but as soon as she answered, she needed to vent about NOT being able to get pregnant.  So I held on to my news and listened and encouraged - and for me, that night and phone call is when our true friendship started. Chelsea got pregnant soon after, and we welcomed our second children within weeks of each other.  I moved back to Utah a few months after, and we both ended up back in Cache Valley after not too long.  We started hanging out more, and play dates because more of Mom dates while the kids played.  And then our third kids came, both girls, both sassy, and we bonded more.

We talk, we vent, we help decorate, we cry, and encourage, we laugh. Our friendship has gotten us both through the lowest of lows and given us a confident place to let it ALL loose. Having a best friend after years of not having one (pretty much since moving to Utah from Ohio as a teenager) has been so refreshing and lifting.  I love Chelsea like a sister and am so grateful for her in my life! Plus, how awesome is it that we can get together and take each other's pictures?! Love ya, Chels!! And Happy Birthday!!
